There’s a joke in the foodie community that once you learn to pickle something, there’s not a piece of produce you’ll look at without exclaiming, “Hey!! I could totally pickle that!!”
The best part about pickling is that it can be done advance and kept in the fridge to add a little flair to just about any dish (my current favorites: fish tacos, salads, and grain bowls)!
From onions, to apples, to kumquats, these are my three favorite foods to pickle!
Pink Pickled Onions
Pickling onions is a guaranteed way to add tons of flavor and a beautiful pop of color to just about any dish! These will last in your fridge for up to 2 weeks, so make a big batch and enjoy them over and over again. With just a few ingredients, you’ll have the prettiest topping for tacos, avocado toast, nachos, and more.
Picked Apples
Add these Picked Apples to your fall cheese board and they are just about guaranteed to be everyone's favorite item on the board. They are also delicious in grilled cheese or on top of a crostini! Plus, they make for a wonderful holiday gift.
Pickled Kumquats
Pickled Kumquats might be the true underdog of pickling. Most people wouldn’t think to pickle them, but once you try them, you’ll be hooked. These beautiful bursts of flavor are delicious on top of salads, grain bowls, or even a festive cheese platter.
