This is my favorite post to write each year—a collection of all the things, little and big, that have made my life easier, tastier, and more joyful. I hope you find a few to delight your beloveds!
FOR THE FOODIE
Macarons, eggs and bacon, or even hot sauce—every food has been re-created and sparkled accordingly to add a fun touch to your Christmas tree.
I drink more water when the cup is on my desk and a straw is just inches from my face. I’ve had these for several years and love them for smoothies and water-guzzling. Just be sure to rinse them right after use if you use with something thick like a smoothie (though they do come with a great little scrubbing brush and a storage bag!)
Give an early gift! Grab a ticket for you and a friend to join us for some holiday macaron bedazzling with Head West Marketplace and Bestowe Gifting at Hangar1 on December 14th. Other gift workshops include: wreath making, cheeseboard design, and screen print gift wrapping. Reserve tickets here.
FOR THE ENTREPRENEUR
Email marketing has totally changed my business and Flodesk has been a DREAM to use. If you have any loved ones who are starting their side hustle, this is the perfect tool to get it out into the world. Use this code to register them for 50% off for as long as they use the platform! (+ You get an extra discount for registering for a year!)
I try to limit the amount of Bluetooth and wifi I use, but these are game changing. I’ve dropped a single ear pod in a matcha latte, lost the charging case for two weeks under the rug, and left a pair in Los Angeles after a speaking event. They can be hard to keep track of but the flexibility they afford is worth every dollar!!
If I’m working on the couch, I use this instead of putting my laptop on my lap. It provides balance, but most important, blocks 100% of EMF radiation.
I’m obsessed. It’s a tiny piece of cheap plastic that shields your camera when not in use, but way better than the post-it I had been employing!
FOR THE HOSTESS
My sister-in-law found these years ago and Chris and I have loved them ever since! We have a mini zoo, but my favorite is rosé poured from the silver bunny!
What you drink is just as important as what you eat. Unfortunately wine “ingredient labeling” is highly unregulated and there’s often a lot of scary stuff added. Biondivino specializes in organic and biodynamic Italian wines. Pop by the shop for a quick explanation of what that really means (and maybe taste something fun!) or order online. A bottle of their wine makes a fantastic hostess gift!
One of my best girlfriends gave us a copper tea kettle and these teas as a wedding gift and it remains one of my favorites. For a fancier gift, package them together, otherwise opt for one. Any tea lover knows there’s joy in brewing a single cup of loose leaf tea. (They have a selection of organic teas, too!)
Bestowe curates unique boxes of goods with a story, made by small-batch artisans. They offer a fun collection of treats for men, women, and the home!
TO PAMPER
These were on the list last year, too and I still love ‘em just as much. I use Gunilla’s face oils—all handmade with 100% pure, natural, and organic ingredients—every morning and night (a small bottle lasts about 5 months). Her products also make great gifts for new mamas and babies.
Use code “foodlala” for 15% off her products and services (and free shipping over $75) through 12/20.
I’m a work-in-progress, but trying to dial back the scented candles. These wood sticks clean your air and add a nice woodsy smell without the toxic fumes.
Chris’s family always has this and I love the smell of it! We started using it this year and it always reminds me of our trips to San Diego.
For years, I’ve been frustrated with cotton pads for removing makeup and nail polish (seriously—why are these things so dang expensive?!) A friend recently recommended these to me and I’ve loved them! They take off makeup effortlessly then you can just pop them in their mesh carrying bag and drop them in the wash. I’ve designated 1-2 of them for nail polish removal (which I don’t use on my face)
I swear—this stuff works. But even if I didn’t, my little monthly spa ritual with Chris would be worth it. We love doing this together on a Sunday night. It’s pure, inexpensive, and will last forever.
I’m biased, but does it get cuter?! The perfect stocking stuffer. Order them here, or if you’re in SF, hop into your local Epicurean Trader.
