Spooky Halloween Party Ideas (on NBC!)

Halloween is right around the corner, so I have to sprinkle a little spooky inspo into your world.  The Emmy-winning production team at NBC came over in August to shoot a Halloween segment, featuring five fun ideas for festive and easy bewitched entertaining, including: lychee eyeballs, mozzarella skulls (that are so scary looking they almost freak me out), burnt menus, ice hands, and batty chips!

10 Last Minute Gifts

If, by chance, your holiday shopping is also incomplete, here are ten cute gift ideas that—as of this morning—are still gettable by Christmas! I hope you find the perfect treasure!

#1 FOOD LA LA French Macaron Kit:  Just featured in Food & Wine’s “12 Best Cookie Decorating Kits for the Holidays and Beyond!” The kit includes the tools and ingredients you need to bake over two dozen French macarons at home (including year-long access to our pre-recorded masterclass so you can bake along with us in your own time!).  Loved by Forbes, NBC, Today, and Food & Wine!  (Note:  We are currently shipping same-day with 2-day UPS delivery!)

#2 6-in-1 Hammer:  I’ve had one of these since I was twelve and use it constantly (you’ll love how tiny the smallest screwdriver is!).  You can also find them at most hardware stores near the checkout registers!

#3 Cotton Cocktail Napkins:  These fabric-feeling napkins are a fun alternative to paper cocktail napkins!

#4 Homemade Simple:  Our favorite cookbook of the year, by our friend Amanda Haas (and photographed by Kathleen Sheffer)!  It’s filled with easy, well-tested, feel-good food.

#5 Kitchen Slippers:  The twins introduced me to these last year and we wear them almost any time we have a filming day.  It’s like a squishy kitchen mat that doesn’t leave your feet (and will save your back and knees from a long day of standing!)

#6 Purse Vase:  I love this vase so much!  I bought a bunch of them as thank you gifts after Tripp was born.  My favorite part is that you need only a few stems of your favorite blooms to make a beautiful arrangement!

#7 Preserved Lemons:  I always try to keep a jar of these in our pantry because they add instant oomph to almost anything.  To use, remove the peel from the fruit (discard the fruit), then dice the peel into tiny pieces!  Add onto a cheese board, into tapenade, with chicken, into a pasta with white sauce and peas. . . they add a bright, citrusy….wait what is in this!? … kinda flavor!

#8 Wine Away:  We’ve had a white couch for the last five and a half years and it’s still white.  ‘Nuff said.

#9 Flip Nightlight: A friend gifted this as a baby present, but it’s a perfect nightlight for anywhere in your house.  Flip it over to turn on its soft glow, then flip it back over to turn it off.  The ideal light for a nursery or bathroom!

#10 Salad Dressing Containers:  My sister gave me these and I love them!  They’re the perfect containers for little bits of leftovers.  I mainly use them for vinaigrettes!
